Soldiers From Fort Campbell Assist in Clean-up at Cleo Griffin House

Soldiers from Alpha Company, 39th Brigade Engineer Battalion came out to the Land Between the Lakes for a very special mission. They helped the Heritage program begin a project to safeguard and preserve the house formerly occupied by Cleo Sanford Griffin. Griffin was a veteran of World War II and, according to locals, may have suffered from PTSD. He was in the Battle of Monte Cassino which began in January 1944 and didn’t end until May of that year. Antlers typically fall off independently of each other. Usually both shed within about one week. They take a lot of punishment through fights with other bulls during the mating season. (General Map) When members of the Land Between The Lakes Sportsman’s Club attended our public budget reduction meetings back in 2012, they asked us if they could help. Eventually, the club decided to adopt Kuttawa Landing. Since then, members have installed several picnic tables. They also maintain the area by mowing and cleaning up the trash.
