Cravens Bay Campground Improvements

Cravens Bay Campground Improvements

By Gary Hawkins, Recreation Program Manager

In May of 2015, several Land Between The Lakes staff met with campers who use Cravens Bay Campground. We wanted to know what was most important to campers at Cravens Bay. Maintenance and the current condition of the bathhouse were the two biggest topics. This meeting resulted in a project list for improvements for Cravens Bay Campground.

  1. All sites markers will be replaced. Completed August of 2015.
  2. The road drainage was reworked to allow better flow of water in storm events. Completed November of 2015
  3. The current bathhouse will not be replaced but rehabilitated. The interior of the men’s and women’s bathroom were torn out and replaced with an eye toward accessibility. Completed December of 2015
  4. The six porta-johns will be replaced by two accessible vault toilet buildings. This project is scheduled for completion in Summer of 2016.

These projects were paid for using funds generated from campground revenue and set aside for capital improvement projects. Land Between the Lakes Engineering, Contracting, Heritage, and Recreation staff worked with our maintenance contractor Envirosmart. Inc and others to accomplish these projects.

A big “thank you” to everyone involved!

We hope our 2016 campers enjoy the newest upgrades.
