What Amenities Are Available?
• The newly renovated Piney Outpost provides campers a place to purchase food and drinks, ice, firewood, tick repellent, limited camping supplies, and other perishable goods. Soft drink machines are located behind the gatehouse and some shower buildings. Washers and dryers are available at Areas B, C, and D shower buildings.
• There are 384 sites to choose from at Piney Campground!
Cabins?
• Piney Campground has nine cabins that sleep 4 and ten cabins that sleep 8. Reserve now.
Inside the cabin:
• These rustic cabins have a portable heater (available upon request), air conditioner, ceiling fan with light, small table, folding chairs or benches, and electrical outlets. 4-person cabins have 1 double bed and 1 bunk bed, and 8 person cabins have 1 full-bed and 2 bunk beds (lower bunk is a full mattress and top bunk is a twin).
Outside the cabin:
• Each individual cabin features its own porch, fire ring, and picnic table. Restroom/shower buildings are located in the campground near the cabins. Piney, Hillman Ferry, and Wranglers Campgrounds also have an Outpost for camping supplies and rentals. Please bring your own linens, pillows, and/or sleeping bags. There’s no smoking or pets allowed and no additional camping units are allowed on the cabin sites.
Is the Campground Near Water?
• Yes, most of our campsites are located near Kentucky Lake.
Are There Any Places to Shower?
• Yes, we have showers in each of our bathhouses.
Number of Vehicles or Camping Units?
• Each campsite is limited to two camping units as defined in our general camping regulations — two tents or one wheeled and one tent — and two vehicles.
Fort Henry Trail System?
• Piney Campground connects to the Fort Henry Trail System where Civil War soldiers traveled to protect Fort Henry, Fort Heiman, and Fort Donelson.
Water Hook-ups for RVs?
• In the spring and fall, water at sites may not be available due to colder temperatures. Water will be available at designated hydrants throughout the campground.
